Let’s continue our wellness Wednesdays through February shall we?
OOOOOF!! Oh yeah, this was awesome and I am SO NOT a facial person.
Why? Because I give them to myself at home ALL the time. I have a clarisonic I purchased at Neiman Marcus a few years back and I use it at least once a week. I also have some pretty great microdermabrasion crystals my client gifted me for my birthday last year. Not to mention all the glycolic and salicylic acid I like to use. And the fresh lemon. The combination of all that keeps my skin super healthy looking and breakout free most of the time.
SO why did I decide to get a facial here at We Care?
Well… I have treatments that cover everything from scrubs to reflexology and scalp treatments, the face was the only area I was missing. Plus, in this dry desert air, I figured I could use some extra moisture. And a peel using desert dates sounded downright YUMMY!
My therapist Barbara was excellent. Right on time, she got to work on me and did not stop. I told her about my headaches and she even worked on my temples to help lessen the pain. I went through a process that included deep cleansing, exfoliation and massages with skin specific masques and moisturizers to hydrate my face, neck and hands.
Barbara put my peel in the middle of my facial which I thought was perfect! I could feel the organic date mixture of malic, lactic and citric acid working. Yes, you feel a tiny burn as the treatment peels away a layer of your skin but it’s not bad at all. And it’s SO good for you! Removing dead, dull skin cells is the best. Especially during a detox program so that new cells can build and replenish your body.
During this peel portion, I enjoyed a moisturizing hand treatment in heated gloves. This was the best! Although it’s over 100 degrees outside, the treatment rooms are always too cold for my tastes- no matter where I am. I enjoyed the warmth and even caught myself snoozing.
I even purchased a moisturizing night cream from The Body Deli… the same products my therapist used on me. 100% organic and natural products only, I am sold and my skin is feeling so smooth.
In just two days, I notice my sinuses are improving A LOT! Maybe it’s a combination of the detox and the desert air, but I really am improving. Now if only this darn headache would cease! I finally broke down and took 3 ibuprofen today. It definitely helped but my temples are still throbbing.
Another day concluded… I just finished my evening soup, a yummy yam one that I poured lots of cayenne pepper and a bit of olive oil into.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow and also looking forward to some more yummy treatments to fill you guys in on! My goal is to test out as much as I can and figure out how all of us can all incorporate the pleasures and pains of We Care Spa into our daily, weekly and monthly routines.
My big hope is to incorporate what I’m learning here into my mode de vie so that I do not need to depend on such a severe detox to keep me healthy.
And guess what?! I want the same for you guys too!
Nighty Night!
