Let’s just say I am oh-so-happy we waited to host our “official” day after the wedding event until 5pm! We actually had a 10am hangover brunch planned for villa guests but only 5 people showed up.

LOL.

Some guests slept until noon. I guess that means it was a fun wedding? 🙂

I realize I’m putting the horse before the cart, but I figure it really doesn’t matter if I go out of order here. Our wedding day posts will come… and probably several at that… I promise you. It’s just that our photos are on Italian time hahaha so we are waiting for them to arrive any day now!

Once again, a huge thank you to Villa San Giacomo and Mirna Kafrouni our senior wedding coordinator for a fabulous job! Everything was incredible.

Mirna was so very helpful in planning every event associated with our wedding too! She planned and arranged our entire boating day to Capri as well as our restaurant reservations and hangover happy hour! She didn’t even have to as it wasn’t a part of her job description nor was it in her fees. But she was sooo nice and sooo happy to help us even with me being as perfectionist, challenging as I can be! I definitely recommend her as your number one if you decide to get married in Italy, for sure!

My vision was to enjoy a beautiful view of the beach while casually dining on finger food. Since the wedding was a very dressy affair, we wanted the happy hour to be much more relaxed. (We figured everyone was slightly hungover anyways so they’d appreciate the thought lol).

When I asked Mirna to recommend a restaurant for us, she did not hesitate. She said La Pergola was the perfect place. And I totally agree. If you go to Positano, you must have lunch or dinner there. It’s right on the beach and has beautiful vines on the open air ceiling. Ask for Davide, he was super helpful in organizing everything and gave us an entire section of the patio.

The babies also joined us for some socializing. I stole my adorable nephew who I call my dashing “chunky monkey” and my cousin brought her sweet, handsome one year old son, Jackson. Both of them are so well behaved… it almost makes Anton and I want one… JUST KIDDING!!!!

The food was perfect and really delicious. Exactly what we wanted. We even had my favorite green olives, yum!

We had a light fare of Italian pastries and breads, olives, mozzarella tomato salad, chips and vegetable pastries. NO MEAT since most of us are pescetarian and I don’t like promoting meat at my events (if you recall our engagement party).

There was so much food we actually brought a few to go boxes back with us to the villa! Oh and we had two margarita pizzas too. I thought we would go out for dinner afterwards, but we were all too stuffed!

We also tried really, really hard to accomodate everyone’s food and drink needs. A lot of people in our group don’t drink, so the restaurant gave me 3 drink tickets per person so people could order things on their own. Wine, beer, hard liquor, water, juices and ice tea were all available to everyone. And we made sure everyone could eat the food.

I think it’s very important to think of your guests, especially when they are travelling so far to see you get hitched!! Anton and I prefer to pack light and try never to take a carry on bag (except for the wedding, we had no choice). SO I certainly did not expect our female guests to have to pack 7 dresses, 5 pairs of high heels and a steamer! You know what I mean? If the wedding had been local, it would have been much easier to host dressier events before and after the wedding. All things considered, I believe we were a great blend!

Destination weddings are fun because you can totally design them however you want to. I love that ours was a mix of fancy and casual. We introduced everyone to Positano with a casual chic dinner. Capri was a beach casual/ sundress warm welcome. Dinner before the wedding was another casual chic evening.

No hockey tonight, yay I get a break :). Florence is next guys, so grab a glass of Tuscan Vermentino and enjoy!!!

xx Shanna
