Anyone else puff up when they eat certain foods? Or maybe just in general? I certainly do, UGH! The only thing that helps thus far is my miracle spa water. It’s a simple concoction I’ve created for myself. (It also works as a great HANGOVER CURE btw!)
Just looking at these ingredients seems to tone down my puffiness, literally. Cucumber, pineapple, lemons and limes, turmeric and filtered water. YUM. Who wouldn’t like this infusion?
Okay, enough with the convincing, let’s examine each of these ingredients closely:
- Filtered water- Because you never know what kinds of toxins are floating around in your tap water, especially in California. Our bodies need at least half our body weight of water in ounces DAILY for proper hydration.
- Cucumbers- A great source of potassium, they’ve been known to lower blood pressure and flush out toxins by keeping you hydrated.
- Pineapples- Use the center of the pineapple! It contains bromelain which is anti inflammatory. It helps to reduce swelling, arthritis and aids in digestion.
- Lemons- A great source of vitamin C, lemons aid in digestion, help to strengthen your immune system and cleanse our tummies.
- Limes- Add a tart taste which I love. The natural acidity of the lime’s juice helps aid digestion by drawing saliva into the mouth and increasing the secretion of digestive enzymes.
- Turmeric- Long known for its anti inflammatory properties, turmeric is also known in India for its tooth whitening capabilities! Yes, you heard it right. Turmeric actually whitens our teeth. Look for my turmeric teeth whitening blog next!
Any questions? Just one of these ingredients should get you excited. Try combining all of them in a pitcher of water and let everything soak for about 4-6 hours in the fridge. Remember to remake your water every 2 days so it’s fresh! I think the taste is delicious… the pineapple adds sweetness and the turmeric, a kick of spice. And don’t forget, if you do have a few too many drinks next Saturday night, to try my concoction the same night and following morning to feel better!
