So I think a lot of you will totally understand what I’m saying when I say I love to work! Especially when I give myself goals and reasons to earn more money.
I’ll work Saturdays, Sundays, Friday nights if I have to.
And why not? I know that soon enough I’ll be booking my next travel adventure, yippee, making all of my efforts totally worth it. Then there’s always the next Louis Vuitton season to save up for, LOL.
Maybe some, but not all of you love travel?
I bet some of my girls out there LOVE fashion? Shoes? Jewelry? Fancy dinners out?
Whatever drives your work ethic off the charts. It’s good for us! Think GOALS.
There’s just one tiny problem with working our little behinds off: BURN OUT. Yes, I believe we’ve all had it at one point or another. That feeling of exhaustion and distain hearing the alarm go off at 5 or 7 am in the morning. The dread as you order your coffee in line at Starbuck’s knowing you’ve only got 8 hours left before you can crash at home and get into some cozy PJ’s.
Well, I’ve got the solution. Quickie vacays are the best way to rejuvenate and turn that negative, tired energy into a bundle of positive feelings and vibrant energy. Just a quick change of scenery and getaway from home can miraculously change our perspective.
There are two easy ways to do this.
The first, GET OUT OF DODGE! Take a quick road trip, driving can be quite relaxing if you’ve got some pretty scenery on your drive. Plus you save money on flights and have the freedom to drive around your new destination.
The second, enjoy a STAYCATION at your favorite local hotel. The first time I heard this word I thought, “What in the heck is a staycation good for?” Then I tried it for two days. Ahhh… relaxing and enjoyable without having to travel anywhere. You can take a walk on the beach, watch movies at home, go out for sushi, play with the pups, head to the nearest karaoke bar… you know, the stuff you never have time for when you are in work mode!
So out of the two, I definitely prefer my get out of dodge for a night which is why we took off for the La Quinta Resort & Spa last weekend. A favorite hotel of mine, once you arrive at the resort you feel as if the hotel is forcing you to calm down and get ZEN!
La Quinta Resort has the most beautiful flowers and greenery EVERYWHERE. They’ve got these great fruit trees I’ve been known to climb up, picking a grapefruit or twenty. (Climbing after a margarita is usually what it takes for me although I certainly don’t recommend you try this at home LOL).
Not to mention my yorkies LOVE our quick getaways! Taking the pups with us means two things: first, I will be extremely happy to have my babies with us (I HATE leaving them) and second, we can leave town last minute without having to worry about who will be babysitting them.
Oh and did I mention our BFF Osvaldo?
Every La Quinta getaway we request him as our waiter and enjoy some of the best Mexican food and margaritas on the planet! YUMMMMM! It’s so awesome to keep returning to the same place knowing you have a friend there! He’s the best waiter on the planet. And when I mean best I mean he puts up with Anton’s sense of humor and even lets Anton stand up and make our table side guacamole. YEP, now you see why? 🙂
Our most recent outing was literally completed in less than 24 hours. Anton had a huge project he’d been working on 18 hours a day and I had been teaching 6am to 8pm every day. We just needed a RESET. We drove over the mountains and 2 hours later we were checked in and enjoying skinny margaritas “my way” poolside in 109 degree desert heat.
Yep, everyone thinks I’m crazy but I just LOVE THE DRY HEAT. Dining at 8pm in shorts and a tank top outside while feeling warm, hot desert air on your skin? Maybe a tiny bit of perspiration because it’s still 90 degrees out? The absolute best! I cannot tell you how much I love the heat… humid or dry, I will take it all.
After a yummy dinner, hot night walk with the pups and a lot of sleep, I awoke at 7am to go for another long walk with the yorkies before grabbing an almond milk latte and enjoying a few early morning hours in the sun. I even hit up the shops and found the perfect navy blue Lilly Pulitzer dress (which did not break the bank, yay!) for our next week’s dinner date. Fashion, travel, yorkies and sun, what more could a girl ask for?
We were home by 2:30pm and back to work only it didn’t feel like work. I was rejuvenated, refreshed, relaxed and ready to hit it hard again! I encourage you all to take a time out once in a while! We all need it and let’s just face it, we all very much DESERVE time for ourselves and a bit of fun too!
Any great staycation ideas? Or quick getaway trips you guys love and prefer? You know me… HAVE SUITCASE WILL TRAVEL!
