Hello and welcome to my French inspired funky country fashion shoot!
Let me give you some background so you can really laugh your booty off before you read this post… HAHAHA…
So we were shooting in Balboa Park and of course it happened to be super hot. (Well, maybe I should have planned things, weather included, a little bit better!) I had Anton’s car. Of course he told me his battery was fixed. So naturally, we drove to a secluded location to get some nice fall shots.
And of course the battery wasn’t fixed.
IT DIED!
OMG you can imagine my response… the redness of my face in these photos clearly makes it obvs.
The 90 degree weather and bright sun also did not help.
Thank God for Monique, my photographer. She’s the most calm, rational, creative genius of a photographer that ever was. She said okay no problem we are going to shoot everything here, the trees are perfect and we will walk here and here and here.
Under my dragon fire breathing lol, I agreed and we began. Of course, changing in the car felt like I was changing in the Sahara Desert with no AC. Oh and two yorkies to take care of… smarty me at least I had their water and a stroller so they were shaded and hydrated!
Okay, so that about sums up this crazy shoot. But you know something? Out of the craziness and me wanting to killll my new husband (LOL), we got some of the best fall fashion shots ever. I mean the lighting… the trees… the colors. We could not have planned it any better.
EXCEPT for my red face.
Sensitive much. 🙁
Lucky for me, effortless chic and French fabulous is my motto so I was able to roll with the punches. I even improved a few outfits, this one included!
What do you think? With two perfect yorkies, a sweater with ripped elbows, a torn and bejewled funky jean skirt, high heeled half boots and a cowgirl hat?
Who would have ever thought.
Punky Brewster much!
I hope you actually recognize the name… otherwise I’m definitely showing my age hahaha.
Okay, back to fashion and this outfit.
Seriously I really love my latest look. Perfect for a fall music festival, date night, lunch with the girls or a shopping spree. I am really using hats a lot lately- I want to preserve my pretty fair skin and stay skin cancer free! Especially with all the driving I do. The sun is strong ladies… don’t you forget it!
What I love most about this outfit is that it really was quite effortless. I grabbed a few things out of my hot car, changed clothes and “wahlaaa” here I am. Even the yorkies fit into the scene.
And if you’re a DIY kind of girl, you can easily make this skirt. All you need to do is cut up a lightweight older skirt with a floral print for the underneath part. Next, find a longer jean skirt and start cutting it short. Cut some holes and wash it in bleach five times. Glue some sequins or stones on there and you’ll be ready to go!
I found my hat at a local bikini store for under $20 bucks. The sweater is also a boutique find. The boots are quietly designer, Jimmy Choo, from my fave sale in Las Vegas if you recall my Vegas blog.
Not everything need SCREAM designer.
Way too GAUCHE to have monograms with this already funky outfit know what I mean?
Okay, my lipstick could be red so I am really ready for Autumn.
Lol, I’m off to bed to dream up some new pilates moves for my girls tomorrow!
bisous… xx Shanna
