Well hello guys!
How’s your week going? Did anyone try my soup recipe yet? I’m craving soup in this cooler So Cal weather. But not as much as I’m craving sushi. Yep, it’s definitely a sushi night tonight.
FALL IS ALMOST HERE!
Did you hear? 🙂
Can you believe it?
I feel like this year just flew by. I mean, we didn’t really get to enjoy summer did we? It all happened WAY TOO FAST.
I feel like the transition from summer to fall is one of the more challenging ones when it comes to fashion. Especially if you live in California. I mean, we could have summer weather in October and November.
Don’t get me wrong, because I am NOT complaining. I live for warm weather haha. But sometimes dressing appropriately can be a challenge. Anyone else feel like heavy leggings and sweaters are a bit much on the West coast? And don’t you find darker colors a bit more challenging to wear in warmer weather? I definitely enjoy Autumn tones closer to Halloween but in September and early October I’m a big fan of what I call my “transitional pieces.”
Remember, I’ve become a very practical person over the years. I can’t help it- sometimes even I think I’ve gone over the edge in the complete opposite direction of how I was when I was younger. I guess experiences and budgets can change a person.
LOL.
Okay, so let’s talk practical transitional ideas for fall fashion!
Here are my top five essential pieces.
- FLORAL PRINTS: By now we’ve seen about a million tweets from Vogue and Glamour about how floral prints should be at the top of our list when it comes to fall wardrobe pieces. What I LOVE most about floral prints is that I can wear things like this blouse you see me pictured in. And I didn’t have to go “fall” shopping to buy it. I “recycled” it lol. 🙂  I wore it with white jeans during summer and now I can continue to wear it into the fall with jeans, closed toe high heels, and pants to match in shades of Autumn.
- WHITE SHOES: Wear them and don’t think twice. Rules were made to be broken and this one definitely should be. White is a staple and can’t be worn enough if you ask me. White matches everything. White looks clean. White is a beautiful color. Questions? Read my white for fall and winter fashion blog to learn just what I think about this particular topic.
- SKINNY JEANS SANS RIPS: Okay I admit I love my tattered jeans and I have several pairs but seriously, not every pair of jeans need be full of holes. Some occasions and some outfits call for a perfectly good pair of skinny jeans with matching belt.
- DON’T OVERDO THE DESIGNER: Accenting your outfit with a designer piece is always nice. But it can be costly. And seriously, don’t you get bored of your clothes and accessories from time to time? I’m constantly donating pieces of my wardrobe. If I spent on everything designer “item” I’d be out on the street holding a sign will work for designer everything and then some. Hahaha. In the outfit I’m wearing in these photos you can see I’ve got my Versace belt. That’s enough. My blouse, jeans and undergarments cost way less than the belt (remember, shoes don’t count lol). Oh and let’s not forget- too many noisy designer pieces in one outfit can scream “I’m trying way too hard to be noticed.”
- CLOSED TOED HIGH HEELS: Open toed shoes scream spring and summer don’t they? So that naturally means closed toed shoes have a lot to say about fall and winter. I for one wear closed toe shoes very infrequently unless they are boots. But… when I do choose a closed toe pair, it’s to make my casual outfit look a bit more fall like and refined. I only own a few essential colors- nude, black and floral prints are enough for my fall fashion shoe wardrobe. I’m just saying! 🙂
Fall doesn’t have to be saying bye bye to summer. Nope. Just think of it as a way to transition slowly into warmer pieces as the weather cools. Let those Autumn tones and closed toe high heels give your summer pieces a nice rest… or at the very least… a reason to be recycled into your fall wardrobe.
See how practical I am? Saving money and time lol.
Just remember these five things: skinny jeans, floral prints, high heels with closed toes, one designer piece to accent your fall look, and white when the outfit calls for it.
Oh and men… jeans and a long sleeved dress shirt always look nice. Black, brown, orange?… whatever matches your woman and her furry companions!
Ready… set… happy fall transitioning.
Thoughts?
Sushi here I come. Thinking and fall fashion must make me hungry HAH.
