Weekends should be fun, am I right?
Relaxing?
Stress free?
And definitely need to include some calorie burning fun, yes?
Going out for drinks and food is always entertaining but as you know from my recent sailing blog, couples can definitely shake things up a bit.
Let’s stir up some excitement and fresh ideas in the relationship!
I was thinking about this all morning today, after realizing what a great time Anton and I had together this past weekend. I rode horses ALL weekend long and he ran 11 miles one day and hiked with a 50 pound back pack the next.
But we hung out like 75% of the time, TOGETHER.
Saturday started with work for both of us. Then he went on his run and I raced to the barn. We didn’t see eachother all morning and he was on yorkie duty until our hair appointments :).
Lucky for him I know a great hairdresser and always book his appointments with me (haha just so he can be entertained and I can make sure he gets a haircut I like)!
So after a few awesome rides and Anton’s long run, he met me at the barn and we took one car to our hairdresser. (Lucille is amazing by the way and super inexpensive so if you need a new hairdresser, PM me)!
Anton napped while we got started on my hair. I could do a whole other blog on how he really pretended to nap while listening to our girlie conversation hahaha… but I’ll save that for later! Then I totally got OCD and micromanaged his hair cut :)… because if I don’t, he comes out looking like a Russian KGB officer.
Seriously ladies.
MEN NEED DIRECTION.
LOL.
So basically, we both got “groomed” together, hahaha, as I caught everyone up on the usual celebrity gossip in the salon’s People Magazines.
I am telling you… go get a haircut together. It’s actually fun and entertaining for the men! And it’s an easy way to spend time together in an unusual setting haha.
The next part of our afternoon involved a stop at the farmer’s fruit stand for my fave guacamole ingredients. You know, the usual. Cilantro, red onion, avocados, lots of lime and a few other surprises I’ll share in this week’s newsletter!
Whatever we do, we’re always having fun together and Anton is always making me laugh at his silliness. Guacamole and margaritas made by Anton (with LOTS AND LOTS OF TEQUILA btw) were about to happen on our Saturday evening at home.
Speaking of silliness, check out our snaps from Sunday.
We took Sunday one step further. I encouraged Anton to meet me at the barn so he hiked all 18 miles there with his 50 pound back pack. CRAZZZYYY I know! I can’t even think about keeping up with him on a hike or run!
So basically he arrives as I’m finishing up giving both horses baths. So naturally, Anton wants (and NEEDS) a bath. So I spray him down with the hose (in his dirty clothes of course) as he “neighs” like a horse… I was DYING.
By the time we finished up, we were tired. You know, that amazing kind of tired where you just feel soooo good from a day’s hard work in the sun, totally having the best time doing what you love?! That was our Saturday and Sunday. And I think we did a pretty darn good job of combining two totally different physical activities into a day spent together!
Oh yeah- did I mention we got more fresh ingredients for a lot more “Sunday” guacamole, veggies and margaritas at nuestra casa? 🙂
I’m not saying it’s easy to combine two completely different activities, but I think where there’s a will there’s a way, right?! Let us crazy-silly newlyweds be the guinea pigs.
You never know what we will think of next.
We can always get creative and experiement with new things, that’s just part of the fun in being human and in a relationship if you ask me!
We have friends who workout at the gym together and do Sunday pancakes afterwards. We enjoy bike riding with little food and drink stops along the way. Hiking the local Torrey Pines hike, walking the dogs to the beach, going kayaking and paddleboarding. The ideas are endless.
There’s always so much to do and so many weekend options. Just make sure it’s something you both love that’s fun and relaxing for you. If you prefer to do your own routine, that’s okay, just be sure to meet up after for coffee or a walk on the beach or through the forest! Even a trip to the grocery store together can be fun. Or if you’re really nutty like us, go to the hair salon together. Anton is just fascinated by what we women say and wonders if we filter the things we say in the presence of men. HAH, wouldn’t he like to know?!
Okay, which one of my readers has a silly way to spend time together? We want more fun ideas thrown our way!
Nighty night. Off to read my latest book on how the Arabian horses were saved in World War II. True story!
